سُورَةُ الأَعۡلَىٰ
Al-A'laa
The Most High · Meccan · 19 verses
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى ﴿1﴾
Sabbihisma Rabbikal A'laa
87:1Celebrate the Name of your Lord, the Most Exalted,
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ﴿2﴾
Allazee khalaqa fasawwaa
87:2who created and proportioned,
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ ﴿3﴾
Wallazee qaddara fahadaa
87:3who determined and guided,
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ ﴿4﴾
Wallazeee akhrajal mar'aa
87:4who brought forth the pasture
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ ﴿5﴾
Faja'alahoo ghusaaa'an ahwaa
87:5and then turned it into a black scum.
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ ﴿6﴾
Sanuqri'uka falaa tansaaa
87:6We shall have you recite [the Quran], then you will not forget [any of it]
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ ﴿7﴾
Illaa maa shaaa'al laah; innahoo ya'lamul jahra wa maa yakhfaa
87:7except what Allah may wish. Indeed, He knows the open and what is hidden.
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ﴿8﴾
Wa nu-yassiruka lilyusraa
87:8And We shall ease you into facility.
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ﴿9﴾
Fazakkir in nafa'atizzikraa
87:9So admonish, for admonition is indeed beneficial:
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ ﴿10﴾
Sa yazzakkaru maiyakhshaa
87:10he who fears [God] will take admonition,
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى ﴿11﴾
Wa yatajannabuhal ashqaa
87:11and the most wretched will shun it
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ﴿12﴾
Allazee yaslan Naaral kubraa
87:12—he who will enter the Great Fire,
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ ﴿13﴾
Summa laa yamootu feehaa wa laa yahyaa
87:13then he will neither live in it, nor die.
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ ﴿14﴾
Qad aflaha man tazakkaa
87:14‘Felicitous is he who purifies himself,
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ ﴿15﴾
Wa zakaras ma Rabbihee fasallaa
87:15celebrates the Name of his Lord, and prays.
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ﴿16﴾
Bal tu'siroonal hayaatad dunyaa
87:16But you prefer the life of this world,
وَٱلْءَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ﴿17﴾
Wal Aakhiratu khairunw wa abqaa
87:17while the Hereafter is better and more lasting.’
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴿18﴾
Inna haazaa lafis suhu fil oolaa
87:18This is indeed in the former scriptures,
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ﴿19﴾
Suhufi Ibraaheema wa Moosaa
87:19the scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
