70:7and We see it to be near.

Wa takoonul jibaalu kal'ihn

70:9and the mountains like [tufts of] dyed wool,

Wa laa yas'alu hameemun hameemaa

70:10and no friend will inquire about [the welfare of his] friend,

Yubassaroonahum; ya waddul mujrimu law yaftadee min 'azaabi yawma'izim bibaneeh

70:11[though] they will be placed within each other’s sight. The guilty one will wish he could ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children,

Wa saahibatihee wa akheeh

70:12his spouse and his brother,

Kallaa innahaa lazaa

70:15Never! Indeed, it is a blazing fire,

70:19Indeed man has been created covetous:

Izaa massahush sharru jazoo'aa

70:20anxious when an ill befalls him

70:21and grudging [charity] when good comes his way

Illal musalleen

Allazeena hum 'alaa Salaatihim daaa'imoon

Wallazeena feee amwaalihim haqqum ma'loom

70:24and there is a known share in whose wealth

70:25for the beggar and the deprived,

Wallazeena yusaddiqoona bi yawmid Deen

Wallazeena hum min 'azaabi Rabbihim mushfiqoon

70:27and those who are apprehensive of the punishment of their Lord

Inna 'azaaba Rabbihim ghairu maamoon

70:28(there is indeed no security from the punishment of their Lord)

Wallazeena hum lifuroo jihim haafizoon

70:29and those who guard their private parts

Illaa 'alaaa azwaajihim aw maa malakat aymaanuhum fainnahum ghairu maloomeen

70:30(apart from their spouses and their slave women, for then they are not blameworthy;

Famanib taghaa waraaa'a zaalika fa ulaaa'ika humul 'aadoon

70:31but whoever seeks beyond that—it is they who are the transgressors)

Wallazeena hum li amaa naatihim wa 'ahdihim raa'oon

70:32and those who keep their trusts and covenants,

Wallazeena hum bishahaadaatihim qaaa'imoon

70:33and those who are observant of their testimonies,

Wallazeena hum 'alaa salaatihim yuhaafizoon

70:34and those who are watchful of their prayers.

Ulaaa'ika fee jannaatim mukramoon

70:35They will be in gardens, held in honour.

Famaa lil lazeena kafaroo qibalaka muhti'een

70:36What is the matter with the faithless that they scramble toward you,

'Anil yameeni wa 'anish shimaali 'izeen

70:37from left and right, in groups?

Ayatma'u kullum ri'im minhum anyyudkhala jannata Na'eem

70:38Does each man among them hope to enter the garden of bliss?

Kallaaa innaa khalaq nahum mimmaa ya'lamoon

70:39Never! Indeed, We created them from what they know.

Falaaa uqsimu bi Rabbil mashaariqi wal maghaaribi innaa laqaadiroon

70:40So I swear by the Lord of the easts and the wests that We are able

'Alaaa an nubaddila khairam minhum wa maa Nahnu bimasbooqeen

70:41to replace them with [others] better than them and We are not to be outmaneuvered.

Fazarhum yakhoodoo wa yal'aboo hattaa yulaaqoo yaw mahumul lazee yoo'adoon

70:42So leave them to gossip and play till they encounter the day they are promised:

Yawma yakhrujoona minal ajdaasi siraa'an ka anna hum ilaa nusubiny yoofidoon

70:43the day when they emerge from graves, hastening, as if racing toward a target,

Khaashi'atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillah; zaalikal yawmul lazee kaanoo yoo'adoon

70:44with a humbled look [in their eyes], overcast by abasement. That is the day they had been promised.
