Al haaaqqah

69:1The Besieger!

Mal haaaqqah

69:2What is the Besieger?!

Wa maaa adraaka mal haaaqqah

69:3What will show you what is the Besieger?!

Kazzabat samoodu wa 'Aadum bil qaari'ah

69:4Thamudand ‘Ad denied the Cataclysm.

Fa-ammaa Samoodu fauhlikoo bittaaghiyah

69:5As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the Cry.

Wa ammaa 'Aadun fa uhlikoo bireehin sarsarin 'aatiyah

69:6And as for ‘Ad, they were destroyed by a fierce icy gale,

Sakhkharahaa 'alaihim sab'a la yaalinw wa samaaniyata ayyaamin husooman fataral qawma feehaa sar'aa ka annahum a'jaazu nakhlin khaawiyah

69:7which He clamped on them for seven gruelling nights and eight days, so that you could see the people there lying about prostrate as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

Fahal taraa lahum mim baaqiyah

69:8So do you see any remaining trace of them?

Wa jaaa'a Firawnu wa man qablahoo wal mu'tafikaatu bilhaati'ah

69:9Then Pharaoh and those who were before him, and the towns that were overturned, brought about iniquity.

Fa'ansaw Rasoola Rabbihim fa akhazahum akhzatar raabiyah

69:10They disobeyed the apostle of their Lord, so He seized them with a terrible seizing.

Innaa lammaa taghal maaa'u hamalnaakum fil jaariyah

69:11Indeed when the Flood rose high, We carried you in a floating ark,

Linaj'alahaa lakum tazki ratanw-wa ta'iyahaa unzununw waa'iyah

69:12that We might make it a reminder for you, and that receptive ears might remember it.

Fa izaa nufikha fis soori nafkhatunw waahidah

69:13When the Trumpet is blown with a single blast

Wa humilatil ardu wal jibaalu fadukkataa dakkatanw waahidah

69:14and the earth and the mountains are lifted and levelled with a single levelling,

Fa yawma'izinw waqa'atil waaqi'ah

69:15then, on that day, will the Imminent [Hour] befall

Wanshaqqatis samaaa'u fahiya yawma 'izinw-waahiyah

69:16and the sky will be split open—for it will be frail on that day—

Wal malaku 'alaaa arjaaa'ihaa; wa yahmilu 'Arsha Rabbika fawqahum yawma'izin samaaniyah

69:17with the angels all over it, and the Throne of your Lord will be borne that day by eight [angels].

Yawma'izin tu'radoona laa takhfaa min kum khaafiyah

69:18That day you will be presented [before your Lord]: none of your secrets will remain hidden.

Fa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo biyameenihee fa yaqoolu haaa'umuq ra'oo kitaabiyah

69:19As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, ‘Here, take and read my book!

Innee zannantu annee mulaaqin hisaabiyah

69:20Indeed I knew that I will encounter my account [of deeds].’

Fahuwa fee 'eeshatir raadiyah

69:21So he will have a pleasant life,

Fee jannnatin 'aaliyah

69:22in an elevated garden,

Qutoofuhaa daaniyah

69:23whose clusters [of fruits] will be within easy reach.

Kuloo washraboo haneee'am bimaaa aslaftum fil ayyaamil khaliyah

69:24[He will be told]: ‘Enjoy your food and drink, for what you had sent in advance in past days [for your future life].’

Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo bishimaalihee fa yaqoolu yaalaitanee lam oota kitaaabiyah

69:25But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, ‘I wish I had not been given my book,

Wa lam adri maa hisaabiyah

69:26nor had I ever known what my account is!

Yaa laitahaa kaanatil qaadiyah

69:27I wish death had been the end of it all!

Maaa aghnaa 'annee maaliyah

69:28My wealth did not avail me.

Halaka 'annee sultaaniyah

69:29My authority has left me.’

Khuzoohu faghullooh

69:30[The angels will be told:] ‘Seize him, and fetter him!

Summal Jaheema sallooh

69:31Then put him into hell.

Summa fee silsilatin zar'uhaa sab'oona ziraa'an faslukooh

69:32Then bind him in a chain, seventy cubits in length.

Innahoo kaana laa yu'minubillaahil 'Azeem

69:33Indeed he had no faith in Allah, the All-supreme,

wa laa yahuddu 'alaa ta'aamil miskeen

69:34and he did not urge the feeding of the needy,

Falaysa lahul yawma haahunaa hameem

69:35so he has no friend here today,

Wa laa ta'aamun illaa min ghisleen

69:36nor any food except pus,

Laa yaakuluhooo illal khati'oon

69:37which no one shall eat except the iniquitous.’

Falaaa uqsimu bimaa tubsiroon

69:38I swear by what you see

Wa maa laa tubsiroon

69:39and what you do not see:

Innahoo laqawlu Rasoolin kareem

69:40it is indeed the speech of a noble apostle

Wa ma huwa biqawli shaa'ir; qaleelam maa tu'minoon

69:41and it is not the speech of a poet. Little is the faith that you have!

Wa laa biqawli kaahin; qaleelam maa tazakkaroon

69:42Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer. Little is the admonition that you take!

Tanzeelum mir rabbil 'aalameen

69:43Gradually sent down from the Lord of all the worlds.

Wa law taqawwala 'alainaa ba'dal aqaaweel

69:44Had he faked any sayings in Our name,

La-akhaznaa minhu bilyameen

69:45We would have surely seized him by the right hand

Summa laqata'naa minhul wateen

69:46and then cut off his aorta,

Famaa minkum min ahadin'anhu haajizeen

69:47and none of you could have held Us off from him.

Wa innahoo latazkiratul lilmuttaqeen

69:48Indeed it is a reminder for the Godwary.

Wa inna lana'lamu anna minkum mukazzibeen

69:49Indeed We know that there are some among you who deny [it].

Wa innahu lahasratun 'alal kaafireen

69:50And indeed it will be a [matter of] regret for the faithless.

Wa innahoo lahaqqul yaqeen

69:51It is indeed certain truth.

Fasbbih bismi Rabbikal 'Azeem

69:52So celebrate the Name of your Lord, the All-supreme.
