Yaa-Seeen

36:1Ya Seen!

Wal-Qur-aanil-Hakeem

36:2By the Wise Quran,

Innaka laminal mursaleen

36:3you are indeed one of the apostles,

'Alaa Siraatim Mustaqeem

36:4on a straight path.

Tanzeelal 'Azeezir Raheem

36:5[It is a scripture] sent down gradually from the All-mighty, the All-merciful

Litunzira qawmam maaa unzira aabaaa'uhum fahum ghaafiloon

36:6that you may warn a people whose fathers were not warned, so they are oblivious.

Laqad haqqal qawlu 'alaaa aksarihim fahum laa yu'minoon

36:7The word has certainly become due against most of them, so they will not have faith.

Innaa ja'alnaa feee a'naaqihim aghlaalan fahiya ilal azqaani fahum muqmahoon

36:8Indeed We have put iron collars around their necks, which are up to the chins, so their heads are upturned.

Wa ja'alnaa mim baini aydeehim saddanw-wa min khalfihim saddan fa aghshai naahum fahum laa yubsiroon

36:9And We have put a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, then We have blind-folded them, so they do not see.

Wa sawaaa'un 'alaihim 'a-anzartahum am lam tunzirhum laa yu'minoon

36:10It is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them, they will not have faith.

Innamaa tunziru manit taba 'az-Zikra wa khashiyar Rahmaana bilghaib, fabashshirhu bimaghfiratinw-wa ajrin kareem

36:11You can only warn someone who follows the Reminder and fears the All-beneficent in secret; so give him the good news of forgiveness and a noble reward.

Innaa Nahnu nuhyil mawtaa wa naktubu maa qaddamoo wa aasaarahum; wa kulla shai'in ahsainaahu feee Imaamim Mubeen

36:12Indeed it is We who revive the dead and write what they have sent ahead and their effects [which they left behind], and We have figured everything in a manifest Imam.

Wadrib lahum masalan Ashaabal Qaryatih; iz jaaa'ahal mursaloon

36:13Cite for them the example of the inhabitants of the town when the apostles came to it.

Iz arsalnaaa ilaihimusnaini fakazzaboohumaa fa'azzaznaa bisaalisin faqaalooo innaaa ilaikum mursaloon

36:14When We sent to them two [apostles], they impugned both of them. Then We reinforced them with a third, and they said, ‘We have indeed been sent to you.’

Qaaloo maaa antum illaa basharum mislunaa wa maaa anzalar Rahmaanu min shai'in in antum illaa takziboon

36:15They said, ‘You are no other than human beings like us, and the All-beneficent has not sent down anything, and you are only lying.’

Qaaloo Rabbunaa ya'lamu innaaa ilaikum lamursaloon

36:16They said, ‘Our Lord knows that we have indeed been sent to you,

Wa maa 'alainaaa illal balaaghul mubeen

36:17and our duty is only to communicate in clear terms.’

Qaaloo innaa tataiyarnaa bikum la'il-lam tantahoo lanar jumannakum wa la-yamassan nakum minnaa 'azaabun aleem

36:18They said, ‘Indeed we take you for a bad omen. If you do not desist we will stone you, and surely a painful punishment will visit you from us.’

Qaaloo taaa'irukum ma'akum; a'in zukkirtum; bal antum qawmum musrifoon

36:19They said, ‘Your bad omens attend you. What! If you are admonished.... Indeed, you are an unrestrained lot.’

Wa jaaa'a min aqsal madeenati rajuluny yas'aa qaala yaa qawmit tabi'ul mursaleen

36:20There came a man hurrying from the city outskirts. He said, ‘O my people! Follow the apostles!

Ittabi'oo mal-laa yas'alukum ajranw-wa hum muhtadoon

36:21Follow them who do not ask you any reward and they are rightly guided.

Wa maa liya laaa a'budul lazee fataranee wa ilaihi turja'oon

36:22Why should I not worship Him who has originated me, and to whom you shall be brought back?

'A-attakhizu min dooniheee aalihatan iny-yuridnir Rahmaanu bidurril-laa tughni 'annee shafaa 'atuhum shai 'anw-wa laa yunqizoon

36:23Shall I take gods besides Him? If the All-beneficent desired to cause me any distress, their intercession will not avail me in any way, nor will they rescue me.

Inneee izal-lafee dalaa-lim-mubeen

36:24Indeed, then I would be in manifest error.

Inneee aamantu bi Rabbikum fasma'oon

36:25Indeed I have faith in your Lord, so listen to me.’

Qeelad khulil Jannnah; qaala yaa laita qawmee ya'lamoon

36:26He was told, ‘Enter paradise!’ He said, ‘Alas! Had my people only known

Bimaa ghafara lee Rabbee wa ja'alanee minal mukrameen

36:27for what my Lord forgave me and made me one of the honoured ones!’

Wa maaa anzalnaa 'alaa qawmihee mim ba'dihee min jundim minas-samaaa'i wa maa kunnaa munzileen

36:28After him We did not send down on his people a host from the sky, nor We would have sent down.

In kaanat illaa saihatanw waahidatan fa-izaa hum khaamidoon

36:29It was but a single Cry, and, behold, they were stilled [like burnt ashes]!

Yaa hasratan 'alal 'ibaad; maa yaateehim mir Rasoolin illaa kaanoo bihee yastahzi 'oon

36:30How regrettable of the servants! There did not come to them any apostle but that they used to deride him.

Alam yaraw kam ahlak naa qablahum minal qurooni annahum ilaihim laa yarji'oon

36:31Have they not regarded how many generations We have destroyed before them who will not come back to them?

Wa in kullul lammaa jamee'ul-ladainaa muhdaroon

36:32And all of them will indeed be presented before Us.

Wa Aayatul lahumul ardul maitatu ahyainaahaa wa akhrajnaa minhaa habban faminhu yaakuloon

36:33A sign for them is the dead earth, which We revive and bring forth grain out of it, so they eat of it.

Wa ja'alnaa feehaa jannaatim min nakheelinw wa a'naabinw wa fajjarnaa feeha minal 'uyoon

36:34We make in it orchards of date palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth in it,

Liyaakuloo min samarihee wa maa 'amilat-hu aideehim; afalaa yashkuroon

36:35so that they may eat of its fruit and what their hands have cultivated. Will they not then give thanks?

36:36Immaculate is He who has created all the kinds of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and of what they do not know.

Wa Aayatul lahumul lailu naslakhu minhun nahaara fa-izaa hum muzlimoon

36:37A sign for them is the night, which We strip of daylight, and, behold, they find themselves in the dark!

Wash-shamsu tajree limustaqarril lahaa; zaalika taqdeerul 'Azeezil Aleem

36:38The sun runs on to its place of rest: That is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing.

Walqamara qaddarnaahu manaazila hattaa 'aada kal'ur joonil qadeem

36:39As for the moon, We have ordained its phases, until it becomes like an old palm leaf.

Lash shamsu yambaghee lahaaa an tudrikal qamara wa lal lailu saabiqun nahaar; wa kullun fee falaki yasbahoon

36:40Neither it behooves the sun to overtake the moon, nor may the night outrun the day, and each swims in an orbit.

Wa Aayatul lahum annaa hamalnaa zurriyatahum fil fulkil mashhoon

36:41A sign for them is that We carried their progeny in the laden ship,

Wa khalaqnaa lahum mim-mislihee maa yarkaboon

36:42and We have created for them what is similar to it, which they ride.

Wa in nashaa nughriqhum falaa sareekha lahum wa laa hum yunqazoon

36:43And if We like We drown them, whereat they have no one to call for help, nor are they rescued

Illaa rahmatam minnaa wa mataa'an ilaa heen

36:44except by a mercy from Us and for an enjoyment until some time.

36:45And when they are told, ‘Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, so that you may receive [His] mercy…’

Wa maa taateehim min aayatim min ayataati Rabbihim illaa kaanoo 'anhaa mu'rideen

36:46There does not come to them any sign from among the signs of their Lord but that they have been disregarding it.

Wa izaa qeela lahum anfiqoo mimmaa razaqakumul laahu qaalal lazeena kafaroo lillazeena aamanooo anut'imu mal-law yashaaa'ul laahu at'amahooo in antum illaa fee dalaalim mubeen

36:47When they are told, ‘Spend out of what Allah has provided you,’ the faithless say to the faithful, ‘Shall we feed [someone] whom Allah would feed, if He wished? You are only in manifest error.’

Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa'du in kuntum saadiqeen

36:48And they say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, should you be truthful?’

Maa yanzuroona illaa saihatanw waahidatan taa khuzuhum wa hum yakhissimoon

36:49They do not await but a single Cry that will seize them as they wrangle.

Falaa yastatee'oona taw siyatanw-wa laaa ilaaa ahlihim yarji'oon

36:50Then they will not be able to make any will, nor will they return to their folks.

Wa nufikha fis-soori faizaa hum minal ajdaasi ilaa Rabbihim yansiloon

36:51And when the Trumpet is blown, behold, there they will be, scrambling towards their Lord from their graves!

Qaaloo yaa wailanaa mam ba'asanaa mim marqadinaa; haaza maa wa'adar Rahmanu wa sadaqal mursaloon

36:52They will say, ‘Woe to us! Who raised us from our place of sleep?’ ‘This is what the All-beneficent had promised, and the apostles had spoken the truth!’

In kaanat illaa saihatanw waahidatan fa-izaa hum jamee'ul ladainaa muhdaroon

36:53It will be but a single Cry, and, behold, they will all be presented before Us!

Fal-Yawma laa tuzlamu nafsun shai'anw-wa laa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon

36:54‘Today no soul will be wronged in the least, nor will you be requited except for what you used to do.’

Inna Ashaabal jannatil Yawma fee shughulin faakihoon

36:55Indeed today the inhabitants of paradise rejoice in their engagements

Hum wa azwaajuhum fee zilaalin 'alal araaa'iki muttaki'oon

36:56—they and their mates, reclining on couches in the shades.

Lahum feehaa faakiha tunw-wa lahum maa yadda'oon

36:57There they have fruits, and they have whatever they want.

Salaamun qawlam mir Rabbir Raheem

36:58‘Peace!’—a watchword from the all-merciful Lord.

Wamtaazul Yawma ayyuhal mujrimoon

36:59And ‘Get apart today, you guilty ones!’

Alam a'had ilaikum yaa Baneee Aadama al-laa ta'budush Shaitaana innahoo lakum 'aduwwum mubeen

36:60‘Did I not exhort you, O children of Adam, saying, “Do not worship Satan. He is indeed your manifest enemy.

Wa ani'budoonee; haazaa Siraatum Mustaqeem

36:61Worship Me. That is a straight path”?

Wa laqad adalla minkum jibillan kaseeraa; afalam takoonoo ta'qiloon

36:62Certainly, he has led astray many of your generations. Have you not exercised your reason?

Haazihee Jahannamul latee kuntum too'adoon

36:63This is the hell you had been promised!

Islawhal Yawma bimaa kuntum takfuroon

36:64Enter it today, because of what you used to deny.

Al-Yawma nakhtimu 'alaaa afwaahihim wa tukallimunaaa aideehim wa tashhadu arjuluhum bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon

36:65Today We shall seal their mouths, and their hands shall speak to Us, and their feet shall bear witness concerning what they used to earn.’
